The Gentlemen of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who helped us raise more than $11,000 for Northwest Harvest this holiday season. We successfully ran the football from Seattle to Wenatchee and met with coach Steve Sarkisian on Monday morning.
The Kappa Sigma Apple Cup Run is the longest running philanthropic event among the University of Washington's greek community. Last year, with the help of the husky community, we raised over $11,000 for Northwest Harvest. Through our efforts we have had the privilege of feeding more than 100,000 Washington families in the last 5 years.
The purpose of the Apple Cup Run is two fold: (1) Raise money for a charitable organization and (2) celebrate the historic rivalry between the University of Washington and Washington State University. Before every home Husky football game, our members break up into small groups of 4 or 5 and mingle with Husky tailgaters while spreading the word about our Apple Cup Run and raising thousands of dollars for Northwest Harvest. Come November, we team up with our chapter at Washington State and run a football 350 miles from Pullman to Seattle. Alpha Omega Tours and Charters shadows our runners as we make the 3 day trek which takes us through Moses Lake, Wenatchee, and Stevens Pass.
